Postdoctoral Associate- Research Center in Minority Institutions HIV COVID Study
The Community-Based Research Institute (CBRI) at Florida International University has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate to join our growing team. As a Postdoctoral Associate, you will primarily work on a new study funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIHMD) as part of FIU’s Research Center in Minority Institutions (FIU-RCMI). The Postdoctoral Associate will assist with analyzing and interpreting data from the R01-equivalent RCMI study “Addressing community-level influences of HIV and COVID-19 disparities among people with HIV.” The study will assess the contribution of community factors on HIV and COVID-19 disparities among people with HIV in Florida. The study will use HIV and COVID-19 statewide surveillance longitudinal data to model potential increases in disparities over time among minority populations. The position has funding for a minimum of 4 years (2023-2027) with annual renewal contingent upon performance. The selected candidate will prepare research publications and presentations as the first author and contribute to other publications and presentations as a co-author. They will also write annual reports and meet project deadlines with the flexibility to develop/design important components of our study and will have flexibility in leading authorship on multiple manuscripts. You will be joining a close-knit, vibrant team of social epidemiologists committed to addressing health disparities. You will be actively mentored and will work with your mentors to develop a tailored career development plan aimed at achieving your short-and-long term career goals. You will benefit from the resources of CBRI and RCMI as well as those from the College and will be provided opportunities to attend research conferences.
Completion of a Ph.D. in public health, epidemiology, or a related field within the last two years or within the next four months will be required at the time of employment.
