The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME) in the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for a full¿time tenured or tenure¿track, open¿rank faculty position beginning Fall 2024 in the advanced manufacturing of materials. We invite applicants with research interests in the broad area of advanced materials and manufacturing. Successful candidates will be able to interface with ongoing research programs, and will align with departmental, college, and university strategic priorities. Possible applications of research interests include (but are not limited to) all aspects of additive manufacturing and/or bio¿manufacturing for structural, energy, and health. Of particular interest are candidates with a background in large scale, industry interfacing additive manufacturing of metals and/or ceramics. Selected candidates will have the potential for developing a collaborative and innovative research program. They should also demonstrate the ability to complement the existing undergraduate and graduate teaching and research expertise in the MME department with a proven emphasis on mentorship, multi¿disciplinarity, collegiality, and scholarship.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Materials Science Engineering/Mechanical Engineering or a related field of engineering and demonstrate a record of scholarly work commensurate with rank and commitment to teaching a diverse set of undergraduate and graduate students in Mechanical and Materials Engineering. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, and service, with an emphasis on a proven track record and/or potential of externally funded research programs of international reputation. The candidate is expected to collaborate with other faculty members in MME and other departments in the CEC and FIU. Currently, the MME department participates in large multi¿university and multi¿PI projects such as NSF ERC, NSFPREM, DOE¿MSIPP, NASA¿MIRO and ARL¿Cold Spray and Rapid Deposition Lab (ColRAD).
