Job Information

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering and Computing at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for two tenure-track, open rank faculty position beginning Fall 2019.

Position 1: Robotics: Candidates are sought with the expertise in the field of robotics, including, but not limited to the design and control of soft robots, bio-inspired versatile robots, novel processes for robot fabrication, human-robot interaction, robotics for infrastructure monitoring and repair, micro-robots, robotics and automation in manufacturing.

Position 2: Advanced Manufacturing: Candidates are sought with the expertise in the field of intelligent/digital manufacturing, additive manufacturing, soft manufacturing, cyber-physical manufacturing, high-performance materials manufacturing, bio-inspired manufacturing and self-assembly, and other novel manufacturing techniques.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, demonstrated record of scholarly work commensurate with rank and commitment to teaching a diverse set of undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate is expected to establish a strong and externally-funded research program of high visibility. It is expected that candidate will actively contribute to the research environment that leads to collaboration between multiple departments, colleges and areas of pre-eminence research across the University. Faculty for consideration of a tenured appointment must have national/international recognition. The candidate will work closely with the Advanced Materials Engineering Research Institute (AMERI) and Engineering Manufacturing Center (EMC)   AMERI (https://ameri.fiu.edu) has extensive laboratory facilities for micro/nano fabrication and design, materials characterization including a class 100 clean room.
