FIU has created innovative policies and programs that give our faculty members the freedom to focus on their families while advancing their careers. Our policies also recognize the changing definitions of family — from blended families, adopted families, and same-sex domestic partnerships, to the demands of caring for aging parents.

FIU has made a key commitment to creating a strong framework of mentoring for new and junior faculty members.  Upon hire, you will be provided an opportunity to be assigned to a faculty mentor.  The value of this relationship will be part of the annual review process to ensure success.  Faculty may be provided a mentor within their own department or discipline, with an external partner or with a faculty member across departmental lines and workshops with leading experts in academic mentoring.
