The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition is one of seven departments within the Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work. The mission of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition is to prepare practitioners and applied researchers in dietetics, food, and nutrition to build a healthier society. The Department offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in dietetics and nutrition. The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND®) accredits two programs within the department, the Didactic Program in Dietetics and the Dietetic Internship.

 

The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition invites applicants for the Dietetic Internship Clinical Coordinator position, as a non-tenure track position at the level of Clinical Assistant Professor.

 

The Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to the dietetic internship by enhancing Departmental interaction with preceptors and interns, and contributing to program growth, planning and evaluation, coordinating existing and develop new graduate practicum placements for Advanced Supervised Dietetics Practice I and Advanced Supervised Dietetics Practice II, responsible for the placement, supervision, and teaching of interns in Advanced Supervised Dietetics Practice I and Advanced Supervised Dietetics Practice II; networking and making connections with community agencies and organizations to expand internship, practicum and learning placement opportunities for internship students, by acting as a community liaison; ensuring that the Department is current with internship and practicum contracts, liability insurance, and workers’ compensation requirements; collaborating and communicating with faculty, preceptors and staff involved in the programs and courses of the dietetic internship and Department; promoting the Department through participation in dietetics and nutrition professional and community organizations (local and state) and other opportunities for professional networking; and performing other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the internship program and compliance with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) standards. This position will also include teaching two (2) undergraduate courses in dietetics and nutrition in the Fall and Spring.
 

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications/Experience

 

  • Education: a Master of Science degree in clinical nutrition, dietetics, or a closely related field is required. Must be eligible for a full-time appointment as non-tenure-track or clinical faculty at Florida International University.
  • Registration and Licensure: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential required and licensed or licensure eligible as a dietitian in the State of Florida are required.
  • Experience: At least ten years of post-credentialing experience as a registered dietitian nutritionist is required. Also, experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.  Precepting  dietetic interns and involvement in accredited dietetic programs is required.  Membership and active participation in the Academy of Dietetics and Nutrition is essential.
  • Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. Effective interpersonal and organizational skills with diverse college/university constituents are required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with university administrators, faculty, staff, and students is a requirement. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those diverse cultures and backgrounds is required. Florida driver’s license is required. This position will require frequent local and regional travel in Florida (including but not limited to Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Monroe, and Collier counties).
